피터 C. 하지슨밴더빌트 대학교 신학대학원 교수를 역임, 역사신학과 구성신학의 주요 저작을 발표한 조직신학자다. 발터 예슈케와 함께 헤겔의 《종교철학》 연도별 복원사업을 완수하였고, 그것을 영어로 번역하여 소개한 헤겔 종교철학의 세계적인 권위자다. 주요 저작으로는 Shapes of Freedom (2012), Liberal Theology (2007), G. W. F. Hegel: Theologian of the Spirit (1997), God’s the Wisdom (1999), Winds of the Spirit (1994), God in History (1989) 등이 있으며, 번역서로는 G. W. F.
